Prewar / wartime manufactured Finnish Army assault backpack. The original reasons behind the production of these small assault backpacks is still unknown to us. We know the name, not much else. However they can be seen used mixed in with other backpacks in some wartime photos.
This is a small khaki colored canvas backpack. It has medium brown cowhide loops and back straps. The back straps have attached auxiliary belt / ammo pouch straps with hooks, like many other prewar backpacks. The backpack has one main compartment and an additional flat compartment under the main flap. The main compartment closes with a white pull string through steel eyelets. The main flap closes with leather straps and steel buckles.
The backpack is in great condition. All the leather parts are supple and there is only minor surface rust on some steel parts. The main compartment cotton string seems to have been replaced with a nylon string.
This is a wonderful condition rare backpack for a collector.
There are no stamps.
