During the trench war phase of the Continuation War many men had more time in their hands than they probably should have had. Often the time was spent on constructing bunkers, trenches and all around soldiering. Another popular way to spend extra time – and to earn money as well – was making trench art. Often made from aluminium or wood, ranging from rings all the way to tables and other furniture. They are still a popular collectible in Finland.

This is a pocket watch fob made from the Finnish Memorial Medal of the War of Independence and a couple of 1919 dated 10 penni coins. The coins have been soldered face to face so that only their Finnish coat of arms backs are showing. The medal and other parts are in good condition.
