Description
Postwar m/36 Tunic from 1952. Suitable for officer impression or an enlisted mens impression.
The Finnish m/36 Tunic was the main uniform of the Finnish armed forces during the Second World War and for a few decades after. Its successors are still used by the officers in the Finnish military. The tunic itself is closely modeled after the Reichwehr tunics of the early 1930’s. It is thus pretty close to the German tunics of the Second World War. There are some differences in the fit and details of the tunics, but the lineage is pretty apparent to anyone collecting or studying these uniforms.
This particular tunic is your standard post war m/36 Tunic, intended for the contemporary enlisted men of the time. The pattern however is identical to wartime m/36 tunics. A great option for an officer’s or an enlisted mens impression for the Second World War. The tunic is in great condition with no damage. There is just one small repair on the right cuff. The lining is a half lining in brown cotton. The material of the tunic itself is fairly rough, slightly blueish grey woolen plain twill, almost identical to the wartime regulation material. Large buttons are wartime plastic coat-of-arms buttons. Epaulettes have metal coat-of-arms buttons.
The tunic is stamped with an SA army property stamp, size marking 48 A, manufacturers label VPu and army year marking Int 52 for the manufacturing year of 1952. Size 48 A is intended for a 160 cm to 165 cm tall man with a 96 cm chest circumference.
