Description
Reproductions of Finnish m/36 (m/36-39 by collectors) collar tabs for conscripts and reservists from May 1939 to June 1941. These collar tabs were used on m/36 wool tunics and summer blouses.
These are embroidered insignia with wool fabric and a natural colored jute backing. We replicated the designs and measurements from wartime documents, and color matched the wool and thread to original wartime tabs.
These tabs were used by conscripts and reservists from 27th of May 1939 to 13th of June 1941. The lower ranks were indicated with a number of sewn silver colored fabric tape chevrons with a 135 degree angle pointing upwards on the middle of the epaulettes. There was to be a 3 mm gap between the chevrons.
- Private (Sotamies): no chevrons
- Private First Class (Korpraali): one 5 mm chevron
- Corporal (Alikersantti): two 5 mm chevrons
- Sergeant (Kersantti): three 5 mm chevrons
- Staff Sergeant (Ylikersantti): four 5 mm chevrons
- First Sergeant (Vääpeli): one 35 mm chevron
The officer ranks were indicated with a number of silver colored heraldic roses placed on the horizontal centerline of the collar tabs.
- Second Lieutenant (Vänrikki): one small rose
- Lieutenant (Luutnantti): two small roses
- Captain (Kapteeni): three small roses
- Major (Majuri): one large rose
- Lieutenant Colonel (Everstiluutnantti): two large roses
- Colonel (Eversti): three large roses
With an order on 13th of June 1941 the separate conscript and reservist insignia were abolished. Conscript and reservist NCOs were to use the same collar tabs as cadre NCOs with no epaulette chevrons. Reserve officers would use the same collar tabs, but with the golden heraldic roses like the cadre officers.
Conscript and reservist Privates (Sotamies) and Privates First Class (Korpraali) would use the same collar tabs. In addition Privates First Class (Korpraali) would have single chevrons on their epaulettes as before.
Cut the tabs so that there is about 1 – 3 mm of wool fabric left outside the outer edge. The tabs are sewn about 5 mm from the front edge of the collar and vertically centered.
Price is for a pair.
Includes only the tabs, heraldic roses are sold separately.
