Description
Wartime Officers m/39 Fur Hat for an Army officer.
The m/39 hat is based on an earlier model known as “Drivers’ Furhat m/22“. It was issued to all the branches starting from the autumn 1939, so just prior to the Winter War. As the norm with the Finnish military, all the branches had their own flair when it comes to colours and materials. The army one had grey wool with grey-ish wool, though they can be anything from white fur to brown.
This fur hat is manufactured by “Suomen Lakkitehdas Oy” as shown by the label on the liner. The liner itself is straight forward army style and handstitched in place. Made out of dark grey artificial silk and some discoloration from wear. The hat itself is made out of grey gabardine wool and the fur is white-ish with a bit of grey and black hairs mixed in. Flaps are attached with tiny metal hooks instead of a string as in enlisted mens hats.
Overall in excellent shape, with a small tear on the leather on the left side where the liner is stitched and in the front. The sheepskin has hardened slightly in some parts, but not to a point where it would be rock solid. The size is roughly 56 cm, but can fit a size 57 head in a pinch.
