Description

A Reproduction of the 1940 pattern Finnish field bottle cover. This cover is meant to be used with the m/36 field bottle and the 1940 pattern field bottle cover strap.

This type of simplified cover and strap were introduced after the Winter War and were used all the way through the rest of WW2.

The cover is made of wool with leather reinforcements. There are steel eyelets for the lacing and an aluminium button on the bottom for fastening the cover strap. The lace is gray cotton with painted metal aglets.

There is heavy variation in the wool and leather colors on these. Your chosen wool color is an approximation. See photos for some of the variation. The leather reinforcement color includes natural, browns, greens, greys, whites, blacks, etc. We use scrap wool and leather for these, as was done during the war, so there is a lot of variation.

If you are having troubles pulling the cover onto your bottle: soak the cover in lukewarm water (not hot) until it’s soaked throughout. Then, pull the cover on the bottle and lace it up. Let the cover dry in room temperature.
